Job Summary:We are hiring a Career Development Specialist to support job seekers and work with businesses to develop jobs for people with disabilities within community businesses. This role is responsible for developing relationships with businesses that will result in job opportunities for the people with disabilities that we support. The Career Development Specialist also supports a group of job seekers on their path to career readiness while volunteering in the community. The Career Development Specialist must be comfortable with meeting business leaders and finding innovating ways to promote our job-seeking candidates.
Responsibilities:Provides Daily Community Based Pre-Vocational Services, working directly with job seekers to achieve their goals as per their Life Plan. Maintains a caseload of 8-10 Pre-Vocational clients in Rockland County. Transports job seekers to and from services. Develops business relationships, which lead to integrated community employment opportunities. Collaborates with employers to negotiate a job placement and terms of employment that match the job seeker’s interests and skills and that fills the unmet needs of the potential employer, Conducts initial intake and discovery reports for job-seeking candidates Educates and works with employers/businesses to remove potential employment barriers and resolves issues related to community integration and independence Establishes and attends informational interviews with the job seeker Establishes ongoing relationships with employers to maintain possible future placements Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders Maintains a record of business relationships for future reference Encompasses the meaning of Person Centered Planning by keeping in mind each person’s unique strengths, cultural, ethnic, religious and age differences required; BA/BS preferred. Complete daily documentation sheet daily with notes on job development progress and contacts, Complete monthly summary with accurate dates of services to be handed in to the Employment Services Coordinator, Keep accurate record of time and attendance for the participants on each day.
Trainings:Attends all NY Foundling, OPWDD, and ACCES-VR trainings needed for the position and others that will assist with completing job requirements
Education:Associates Degree required; BA/BS preferred.
Experience:At least 1 year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred. Ability to work a flexible or extended schedule as needed.
Salary:$45,000 USD per year
