Job description: | The Family Peer Advocate (FPA) will provide 1:1 support, education and advocacy to families/primary caregivers of children and adolescents with mental health symptoms and other special needs. • Provide one-to-one support to families - in person, by phone and virtually; AND upon request of the family, attend meetings at school and meetings with other treatment providers • Provide support and education to families in a group setting • Participate in team and supervisory meetings and seek consultation when needed from a supervisor • Collect and organize all data related to the position. • Document services and submit reports in a timely manner • Attend community events/meetings to represent NAMI Rockland as assigned Work Schedule: Approximately 20–25 Hrs. per week - schedule may be flexible – occasional evening hours may be required Salary: Begins at $18/hr. Qualifications: | • Must be a parent or primary caregiver of a child, teen or young adult (birth, foster or adoptive) living with mental health symptoms that were diagnosed as a child. Candidate for the position understands and has the experience of working through the school and mental health system to get help for their child. • Has available, reliable transportation and willing to travel locally in Rockland. • Eligible for State Central Registry clearance and OMH Fingerprint clearance Certifications: 'Must be willing, within 12 months of hire, to successfully complete the Parent Empowerment (PEP) Training and receive FPA Certification. Hourly wage or salary: | $18 Starting |
