Job Description: | · Carries out a number of nursing functions and procedures to ensure medically fragile children are comfortable, safe and able to function in the classroom; monitors children, charts seizure activity, administers medications as prescribed, administers respiratory treatments, gastrostomy feedings, as per IEP etc. Communicates and confers with parents concerning medical status, special needs, and other related matters. Monitors child's medical progress including weight and height as per IEP. · Completes daily session notes/attendance records for each IEP-based medical treatment on a daily basis. · Feeds or assists in feeding children according to each child's physical needs, disabilities and IEP. Prepares food based on specific dietary needs of the child, including pureeing food, providing supplements and other nutrition as necessary. Monitors children while eating to ensure they do not choke or aspirate. Works with children performing oral motor stimulation exercises as may be required. · Carries out a variety of support functions to children who require use of orthotics and other adaptive equipment in order to function in and outside of the classroom setting. Positions children properly to help them maintain range of motion, prevent contractions and to encourage their comfort and well-being, incorporating various motor and sensory stimulating experiences. |
Qualifications: | - Completion of a licensed practical nursing program or registered nursing program, with current NYS LPN or RN license, plus two years’ experience. Experience in a classroom setting preferred. - Must be vaccinated |
Certifications: | Valid and current NYS RN or LPN licensure. |
Hourly Wage: | $22.00 - $28.00 per hour |
