Job Description: | "Job Summary: Responsible for the safety and daily needs of the children in the unit and acts in accordance with all defined policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant will be mainly assigned to work with medically fragile children. About Abbott House: Abbott House is an innovative community-based organization that helps children, families, adults and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with complex needs build lasting foundations for a promising future. We operate programs in the New York Metropolitan area and Hudson Valley. Duties & Responsibilities: Responds appropriately to the individual and special needs of children. Is aware of the whereabouts of all children at all times. Demonstrates group management and crisis intervention skills. Acts as an appropriate and positive role model. Represents and carries out agency, department and unit policies and procedures. Assesses maintenance needs of unit and prepares maintenance requests as needed. Monitors cleanliness and appearance of unit and prepares maintenance requests as needed. Supervises chores and internal work program. Responds appropriately to fire alarms and fire drills. Assures children follow daily routines and schedule including recreational & religious activities. Complete log entries and incident reports accurately and regularly. Attends and participates in all meetings as assigned. Uses unit van appropriately and appropriately completes van logs. Demonstrates sound and effective counseling skills. Provides effective supervision of meals. Monitors hygiene and health problems of residents. Works cooperatively. Accompanies the children assigned to all medical appointments. If child is hospitalized, will remain with child in the hospital (during work schedule) Any other related duties as required. Qualification: | "About You: You are the ideal candidate if you are enjoy working in the social services field while empowering underserved communities. Being compassionate, reliable, self-motivated, and a team player are critical attributes to be successful in this role. Degree preferred, High School diploma required. One year’s experience in child care preferred. Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Bilingual (Spanish –preferred), Multicultural. All mandated certifications must be taken." |
