The person in this position serves as support to get individuals to appointments and ensures safety of the individuals by complying with all speed limits and safe driving practices. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Chauffeuring IRA residents and staff to hospitals, clinics, doctors offices, laboratories, and any other outside service in Rockland County and New York City. The Driver is responsible for the safety of the residents while in the vehicle and is responsible in communicating with the Direct Support Professionals all pertinent information or recommendations. Assist residents when necessary and appropriate with any entering and exiting the vehicles. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to peers, consumers, families and other employees of the agency. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma, valid non-restrictive NY State driver’s license. At least two years of driving experience is required. Some experience or willingness to serve people who are mentally/physically disabled.
