| POSITION DESCRIPTION: | Primary responsibilities of the role are to assist youth/adults who are visually impaired or blind with support, guidance and assistance to achieve independence safely in their community and surroundings. • Evaluate and assess personal needs and environment of each individual • Instruct individual and family on how to navigate or travel safely within the home and community • Orient individuals with techniques to prepare for challenges and barriers in the school, home job placement and community • Teach techniques and awareness of each individual’s surroundings to achieve personal confidence and independence |
