Job Description:"Job Summary: Provides educational services and assessments, including curriculum building, meeting standards for education requirements. The Trainer responsibilities are to conduct trainings, select or develop training materials; maintain records on training program attendance, trainings offered, and evaluation measures. We operate programs in the New York Metropolitan area and Hudson Valley. Duties & Responsibilities: Ensure that each child entering the program is properly assessed through a series of educational assessments. Prepare age appropriate academic and social programs tailored to the needs of each child. Develop a lesson plan that has 6 hours of instructional teaching in the following subjects: English, Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies/History and physical education. Instructional teaching for 6 hours, Monday thru Friday, year-round. Organize and prepare classroom environment, making sure that the classroom is conducive to learning and all children are safe. Maintain positive, supportive, and professional relationships within the Abbott House community. Observe and document daily attendance and weekly progress note for each youth in attending school. Consult with Clinician in order to identify youth with special needs’ reports as needed. Prepare a discharge education package (which includes Attendance, final progress report, Educational Assessments and Recommendation for new school placement) Be well versed on ORR & AH training requirements. Track all trainings and assure all personnel complete trainings. Work closely with Program Director, Senior Program Director, PSA compliance and Program Coordinator Other related duties as required. Qualification:"About You: You are the ideal candidate if you are enjoy working in the social services field while empowering underserved communities. Being compassionate, reliable, self-motivated, and a team player are critical attributes to be successful in this role. You have a Bachelor’s degree and certification by the relevant governing authority, Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or other appropriate accrediting body and additional training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied children. You have experience teaching in a special education setting (a plus). You are proficient in English and Spanish both oral and written (preferred). You have excellent communication and organizational skills and genuine sensitivity to children of diverse cultural background"
