| POSITION DESCRIPTION: | Primary responsibilities of the role are to assist youth/adults who are visually impaired or blind with support, guidance and techniques to safely live in their environment. • Assist in use of compensatory skills that will enable individuals to live safe and interdependent lives. • Enable persons of all ages who are visually impaired or blind living throughout the lower Hudson Valley region to lead safe and independent lives. • Orient individuals to their surrounding and daily living tasks (transportation, personal care, living skills, school) • Meet with individual and family on personal goals and skills that need to be addressed • Recognize and address each individual’s needs or daily activities that may cause potential struggles. |
